Google One Lite cloud storage plan now available in India
Google has introduced a new subscription tier, the Google One Lite, for its cloud storage bundle service in India. This affordable option is priced lower than the existing Basic tier, which was previously the most economical entry point to the Google One subscription. The new plan provides only free cloud storage without any additional benefits.
Selective rollout and pricing details
The Google One Lite plan was discovered within the Google One app by some users, suggesting a selective rollout. To access this plan, users must download and install the Google One app. On the Upgrade page of this app, the new subscription tier will be displayed at the top. The Lite plan offers 30GB of cloud storage per month at ₹59 or an annual subscription for ₹589.
Special deals and comparison with other plans
Some users have reported seeing special deals for the first month of subscription. For example, one user was offered a rate of ₹15/month for two months before the price increased to ₹59. However, unlike the Basic plan priced at ₹130/month, that includes storage sharing with five people and 100GB of cloud storage, the Lite plan does not offer any extra benefits.
AI features not included in Lite plan
It's important to note that the Lite plan does not include any AI features. Those are only available with the AI Premium plan, which promises 2TB of cloud storage, access to Gemini Advanced, Google Gemini in various Google apps, as well as the Magic Editor in Google Photos. This premium subscription is priced at ₹1,950 per month.
