Google Messages gains new 'Selfie GIF' feature: How to use
Google's proprietary text messaging app, Google Messages, has introduced an innovative 'Selfie GIF' feature. It is designed to inspire users to express their creativity by capturing lively moments in short snippets. This adds an artistic touch to conversations, providing a more engaging and dynamic user experience. While the deployment of the 'Selfie GIF' feature is still ongoing and has not yet reached all devices, Google Messages assures data privacy with this feature.
How to use the feature?
To use the 'Selfie GIF' feature, users need to open a conversation and long-press the camera icon in the text field. Once selected, a quick countdown initiates a 3-second recording, creating an animated selfie automatically. Users also have the flexibility to manually start and restart the recording using a red button. The resulting selfie GIFs are automatically saved to the camera roll for easy sharing.
Meta's AI feature for WhatsApp users
In related news, Meta has begun rolling out its generative AI feature for WhatsApp users globally. Similar to Google's 'Selfie GIF,' Meta AI allows users to create images and animate them into GIFs for more interactive conversations. However, unlike standard WhatsApp conversations that are protected by end-to-end encryption, interactions with Meta AI do not have this security feature. Despite this, Meta ensures that the AI only accesses and responds to messages explicitly directed at it via @Meta AI.
