Gmail's new feature will help you write emails, using Machine-Learning

    What's the story

Over the past few weeks, Google has revamped its Gmail with new design changes and features such as confidentiality mode, e-mail snoozing and a convenient hover bar tool.

In the latest update, the tech giant has announced 'Smart Compose' - a new feature which, it says, is "powered by artificial intelligence, to help you draft emails from scratch, faster."

    Here's more about Smart Compose.

    Auto-complete

How does this new Gmail feature work?

Smart Compose uses machine learning to understand the context and suggest what you might want to write next - say, common phrases or addresses.

It will operate in the background and will offer suggestions as you type. And when that suggestion suits your requirement, you can click "tab" button to use it.

In a nutshell, it's like an auto-complete, predictive-type feature but much smarter.

    Coming soon

How to get started with Gmail's Smart Compose?

This feature works on the "new Gmail" design and will be rolled-out to users this month. G Suite users will get it in the "coming months."

To try this feature now, enable the new Gmail (Settings > "Try the new Gmail")

Next, go to Settings > General tab and scroll down to enable "experimental access."

To switch back, uncheck the "experimental access" box.
