Google's Workspace suite now comes with integrated Gemini chatbot
Google is integrating its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, Gemini, into the Workspace productivity suite. This move could potentially expand the user base of the chatbot by millions. The standalone Gemini app will now be a standard feature in Workspace Business, Enterprise, and Frontline plans from Q4 2024 onward. This eliminates the need for users to purchase a separate Gemini add-on.
Gemini's data usage and management
Google has clarified that Gemini will adhere to the same enterprise terms as other core Workspace services such as Gmail and Docs. The company assures that it won't use a company's data, generated responses, or user prompts to train and improve its Gemini AI model. In the near future, Workspace administrators will have the option to manage if Gemini stores generated responses and user prompts, and set a limit on their storage duration.
Gemini AI meets industry security, privacy standards
Gemini for Workspace has received SOC 1/2/3 and ISO 27701 industry security and privacy standards certifications. These certifications aim to provide organizations with confidence on implementing the chatbot for corporate use. In addition to integrating Gemini, Google is also launching a new "Security Advisor" tool designed to combat malware, phishing, and other online threats.
New 'Security Advisor' tool for Workspace
The new "Security Advisor" tool is designed to deliver insights, directly to an IT administrator's inbox. It includes a variety of safe browsing and data protection facilities for Chrome, Gmail, and Google Drive. This tool will be available to paying Workspace customers over the coming weeks, further enhancing the security measures in place for users of Google's productivity suite.
