Fitbit's online store shuts down, taken over by Google Store
Google has integrated the online shop of Fitbit, a company it recently rebranded as "Google Fitbit," into its own Google Store. Until this change, Fitbit had maintained its original online store post-acquisition. Now, product pages on fitbit.com feature a "Buy on Google Store" button. The prices and discounts displayed match those on store.google.com. Customers were notified of this transition with a message stating, "Fitbit is now part of Google, so your checkout and purchase will be completed on Google Store."
Google Store recently included several Fitbit products
The integration of Fitbit's online shop into the Google Store was anticipated, particularly after the latter expanded its inventory in March to include a range of Fitbit smartwatch and tracker accessories. The "Watches & Trackers" section on the site also underwent a significant revamp. This merger is seen as an effort to streamline inventory management. Interestingly, Fitbit had already transitioned its Help Center to Google's infrastructure as early as January.
Fitbit Dashboard glitch resolved
Earlier this month, the Fitbit Dashboard, accessible on the web, had been experiencing glitches, occasionally displaying a blank page. This fueled speculation that Google could be transitioning toward an app-exclusive interface, potentially shutting down the website. However, Google has recently resolved this bug on fitbit.com.
