Gemini's 'Saved Info' feature now available for free—How to use
What's the story
Gemini, the AI-powered personal assistant by Google, has expanded its "Saved Info" feature to free users. Previously, it was only available for Advanced subscribers.
The upgrade aims to make user interactions more personalized and save time by eliminating repetitive prompts.
The feature is available via Gemini's settings on the web at the moment and will soon be rolled out on the mobile app.
User impact
A game-changer for user experience
The Saved Info feature, launched in November 2024, was initially limited to Gemini Advanced users. It has been touted as a game-changer for user experience.
The feature enables the AI to remember and cater to individual preferences, making its responses more relevant.
For example, if you're a vegan, Gemini will suggest appropriate dining options based on this preference.

How to use the Saved Info feature
To use the Saved Info feature, visit Gemini's settings and tap on "Saved Info." Here, you can add new preferences or edit existing ones.
The responses generated will be tagged with 'Your saved info' as the source.
You can also visit gemini.google.com/saved-info to add, edit, or delete preferences, or ask Gemini directly in chats to remember something. You can also disable saved info completely using the settings toggle.
As of now, the feature is only available for English-speaking Gemini users.
Feature distinction
Saved Info differs from Gemini's Recall functionality
It's worth mentioning that the Saved Info feature is different from Gemini's Recall capability.
While the former remembers your preferences to generate personalized responses, the latter can reference past conversations in new ones, summarize the previous chats, and build on ongoing projects discussed with Gemini.
Currently, the Recall feature is still limited to Advanced subscribers.
