Chrome makes it easier to access saved passwords across devices
Google Chrome is introducing a feature that will allow users to access their saved passwords and bookmarks across multiple devices, by simply signing into their Google account on the browser. The update eliminates the need for enabling Chrome sync separately, streamlining the process for users. Initially rolled out on iOS last year, this change is now being extended to Android and desktop versions of Chrome.
New feature offers a customized browsing experience
The new feature in Google Chrome also provides users with a "customized browsing experience." This includes the ability to send tabs and use saved passwords across different devices. However, users who prefer not to link their browsing data with their Google account can choose not to sign into Chrome. The tech giant has clarified that opting for this feature does not automatically save your history or open tabs to your Google account, requiring separate consent.
Chrome's evolution aligns with user expectations
Claire Charron, Chrome's product manager, stated in the announcement that "users increasingly expect to just sign in to get access to their stuff and sign out to keep it safe." She further added, "Given this evolution of technology and user norms, we're continuing to make progress on transforming our legacy sync model into one that more seamlessly meets the expectation users have today." This statement underscores Google's commitment toward enhancing user experience by aligning its services with evolving user expectations.
