Google Calendar arrives on Wear OS smatwatches with new features
Google is rolling out its Calendar app for Wear OS smartwatches. First spotted in November last year, the app is listed as "Calendar" in the launcher and shares space with the "Agenda" app on Pixel Watch running on Wear OS 3.5. The Google Calendar app for Wear OS sports a similar "Schedule" view as seen on smartphones, making it easy for users to check event details like location, modify attendance, open events on their phones, and delete events.
The Calendar app integrates with Google Tasks
Besides showcasing familiar events like holidays and birthdays with background images, Google Calendar for Wear OS also syncs with Google Tasks. This feature allows users to view tasks within the app and mark them as done. The app even shows how far it has synced at the bottom of the screen. However, it doesn't support creating events or tasks directly from the wearable. Google Calendar also introduces new Wear OS Tiles including "Next event" and "Next tasks," displaying upcoming entries.
Calendar complications
The updated Google Calendar app for Wear OS comes with a "Next event" complication, enabling users to quickly access their upcoming events. When it comes to the existing date complications, users will prompted to choose between opening Google Calendar or the Agenda app thereafter. This smooth integration between the two apps offers a more complete view of users' schedules and tasks on their wearable devices.
How to install Google Calendar on Wear OS
To get Google Calendar on a Wear OS device, users can simply search for "Calendar" on the wearable's Play Store or remotely install it via the app listing. With this fresh addition to Wear OS, users can now enjoy a more seamless experience between their smartphone and wearable devices when managing their schedules and tasks. Last week, Google released the Gmail app for WearOS.
