Google's 1.3L scholarships to Indian developers: Here's how to apply
In a new initiative, Google has announced a scholarship for developers in association with education firms Pluralsight and Udacity. The program will benefit 1.3L developers and students in India. Those chosen will be trained in emerging technologies like AI, AR/VR, machine learning and more. This is a part of Google's plans to train 20L developers in the country. Find all details here.
About the scholarship
According to Ishan Gupta, Udacity India MD, the scholarship program would have two phases. In the first, candidates would get free access to its courses on mobile/web development as well as mentorship. "The top 1,000 students earn an additional 6-month scholarship to our Mobile and Web Developer Nanodegree programs." Google will offer 30,000 scholarships on Udacity and another 1L on Pluralsight.
Who are eligible? How to apply?
Only those above 18 and living in India are eligible to apply. You will have to choose from two learning paths - Web Developer or Android Developer. Once selected, you will be allotted to either the Beginner or Intermediate track based on your skills and experience. Top students will earn full scholarships to relevant training programs. 'India will overtake US in developer ecosystem by 2021'
Speaking at the launch in New Delhi, William Florance, Developer Products Group and Skilling Lead for Google India, said, "India is the second largest developer ecosystem in the world and is bound to overtake the US by 2021." "Unlike China, India is lagging in innovation but is adopting technologies faster." In the last year, Google has already engaged with 5L students and developers.
