Google's 2018 flagship smartphone gets a name
When it comes to naming its software or hardware, Google has always been secretive. But, it appears that the tech giant has mistakenly leaked the name for its 2018 flagship smartphone. According to a code spotted on Android Open Source Project (AOSP), Google's next flagship phones will be called Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, which is in-line with the current naming scheme. Here's more.
Google Pixel 3 is expected to launch in Q3
While a code may have leaked the name for Google's next smartphone, we don't expect it to launch any time soon. In fact, the Pixel 3 will be launched somewhere around October this year and we can expect to see more leaks around this. Surely, all of us hope to see a design overhaul in the new Pixel, given the trend of edge-to-edge displays.
Google is also working on a mid-range smartphone
Additionally, an earlier report had suggested that Internet giant is also planning a mid-range variant as an addition to its current Pixel line-up. Codenamed "Desire", this new variant is said to run Android Go or Android Oreo (Go edition) and may be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 or Snapdragon 700 series SoC.
