Google and Levi's 'connected' jacket gets new ride-sharing, location-saving abilities
Google and Levi's 'connected' smart jacket, which is largely designed to help bike commuters carry out tasks without having to use their phones, is getting support for ride-sharing alerts, Bose headphone's "Aware Mode," and location saving. Launched last year, the Jacquard Commuter Trucker jacket already allows users to control music, screen phone calls, and get directions with a tap of the cuff.
The jacket will notify you when your Uber/Lyft ride arrives
Users can connect their Lyft/Uber accounts to the companion mobile app and assign the "rideshare" ability to the jacket's snap tag on the cuff. When your ride arrives, it will light up and vibrate. Users can also brush their jacket to hear details about the ride in their connected headphones. With ride-sharing alerts, the jacket wants to become useful even when you're not commuting.
Gesture control for switching noise cancellation on and off
Bose's Aware Mode "picks up surrounding sounds and sends them to the user's ear" through supported headphones. It offers noise reduction along with still being able to hear important things like approaching vehicles, horns, and other people. Now users can turn noise cancellation on and off in Bose's QC30 and QC35 supported headphones by assigning a toggle for the same on the jacket.
Tag your location on the go
A new "Places" feature allows users to drop a pin on the map to save a location on the fly through the jacket. They can later see, share, or edit the saved location from the companion mobile app's Activity screen.
