Gemini writing tools in Gmail can help you 'Polish' drafts
Google has enhanced its Gemini writing tools in Gmail with a new feature designed to refine drafts. The update introduces a "Polish" option, which joins existing features such as "Formalize" and "Elaborate." Additionally, shortcuts have been incorporated into the body of emails on Android and iOS, highlighting the availability of these AI-driven writing tools.
Exclusive to Google One AI Premium users
The enhanced Gemini tools are exclusively available to those who subscribe to Google One AI Premium accounts, or have purchased Google's Gemini add-on for Workspace. Upon opening an empty draft, these users will see a "Help me write" shortcut that can be used to generate text with Gemini. Once a draft contains 12 or more words, a new "Refine my draft" shortcut appears in gray letters beneath the text.
User-friendly interface and options
Swiping on the "Refine my draft" shortcut presents users with options such as "Polish," "Formalize," "Elaborate," or "Shorten." Alternatively, Gemini can be instructed to create an entirely new draft. If the "Refine my draft" shortcut is not visible, tapping the pencil icon will yield similar results. This user-friendly interface aims to make drafting emails more efficient and effective for users.
