Gmail for iOS gets AI-based high priority push notifications
Google has introduced a new feature that will ensure your Gmail app only sends you notifications when important emails come in. Currently available only for iOS, the feature leverages machine learning and artificial intelligence to filter out alerts. Google has said it will introduce the feature for its Gmail Android app as well but no timeline has been given. Here are the details.
Here's how you can enable this new feature
Firstly, make sure you're running the latest version of Gmail for iOS. To enable this new feature, open Settings on your Gmail app. Now, in the Notifications drop-down menu, select 'High Priority only' option to receive push notifications for relevant emails only. If it works the way it has been claimed, at least I will be a happy user.
If you haven't received the feature yet, just be patient
This update, being a server-side change, may not be available for everyone just yet. However, Google has said that this new feature will be available for all users of Gmail for iOS in the next 1-3 days.
Google is redesigning Gmail with AI and ML
Taking one step at a time, Google's latest smart notifications feature is part of the company's plans to redesign Gmail. And, at the heart of this whole revamping is the integration of AI and ML. Earlier, Google introduced Smart Compose, a machine learning-based feature that helps you compose emails faster by suggesting texts, addresses etc.
