Touted as the world's biggest mobile show, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 will be held from February 26 to March 1 in Barcelona, Spain. Attendees from all over the world have started their journey towards the tech show, which will see some key announcements and buzz around flagship smartphones from February 25 itself. Here is what you can expect from MWC this year.
Samsung's Galaxy S9 will finally be launched
Samsung will officially launch its much-awaited Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus smartphones. However, several leaks of the flagship phone have already been making rounds on the internet. The S9's USP will be its dual aperture camera, which will allow the shutter to dilate and contract (like traditional cameras). It might also feature stereo speakers, a first for Samsung, and a super-slow-motion video mode.
Sony might see its first dual camera smartphone
Sony is expected to launch the successor to its Xperia XZ Premium smartphone, which will be called XZ Pro. The device will reportedly feature a 5.7-inch OLED display, a dual camera (a first for Sony) and will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 845s processor. According to an official company teaser, the phone can be curvy in nature.
LG V30 to be enhanced with AI functionalities
LG might announce a 2018 version of its V30 smartphone, which will be enhanced with AI technology. Its Vision AI will provide the camera with a 'best shooting mode,' scan QR codes, perform image searches, and provide shopping links of the images clicked. In a one of its kind functionality, its Voice AI will offer a slew of new, exclusive commands for Google Assistant.
Nokia to come up with low-cost Android phones
Nokia is speculated to come up with a low-cost Nokia 1 smartphone which will run Android Go (designed for devices with less than 1GB of RAM). A Nokia 9 smartphone is also in the offing, which will reportedly feature a 5.5-inch OLED screen, triple camera setup, and 3250 mAh battery. It will run Android Oreo 8.0 and will be powered by Snapdragon 835.
