Garuda Aerospace to establish dedicated defense drone facility in Chennai
Garuda Aerospace, a leading drone manufacturer, has announced plans to establish a dedicated defense drone facility in Chennai. This initiative aligns with the Indian government's 'Make in India' campaign. The company's CEO, Agnishwer Jayaprakash, recently discussed these plans with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during a meeting in New Delhi. The proposed facility will feature advanced drone design, manufacturing, and testing capabilities as recommended by HAL and BEML.
Facility to boost local manufacturing of critical drone components
The upcoming facility will focus on the local production of essential drone components such as motors, batteries, and transmitters. This is in line with Garuda Aerospace's broader strategy to enhance indigenous drone subsystem development. The company aims to design drones with ISR capabilities, swarm drones, tethered drones, and underwater drones at this new facility.

He emphasized the significant role of defense drone technology in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for the world. "Garuda Aerospace will be at the forefront of enabling the Prime Minister's and Defence Ministers's vision for its armed forces," he stated.
