Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 won't feature in-display fingerprint scanner?
According to reports, Samsung's Galaxy Note 9, which will be launched later this year, will not feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. Through it, users could have unlocked the phone by placing their finger anywhere on the screen. Earlier, reports had suggested that the flagship smartphone will finally introduce the said functionality, which left Samsung fans expecting the key feature in the upcoming handset.
The latest development is reported by renowned expert Ming-Chi Kuo
According to renowned expert Ming-Chi Kuo from research firm KGI Securities, Samsung is facing several technical difficulties while incorporating an in-display fingerprint sensor into the Galaxy Note 9. Interestingly, it was Kuo who had earlier predicted that the device will pull off the latest technology.

Here are two potential reasons why Samsung might be removing the technology: The ultrasonic sensor by Qualcomm and other optical solutions by Synaptics do not meet the technical requirements of the company, Kuo said. He also claimed that the feature has run into problems with screen protectors and different environments affecting its success rate.

Even so, Kuo is "positive" that Samsung will indeed be a pioneer of the in-display recognition technology in OLED panels in the "future." The company has already skipped the feature in its recently launched Galaxy S9 smartphone. In terms of hardware, an in-display fingerprint scanner has been the most talked about at the CES and MWC this year.
