Fossil's all-new smartwatches get heart-rate sensor, NFC payments, built-in GPS
US watch and accessory maker Fossil has launched its fourth-generation Fossil Q smartwatches. The latest wearables - the Q Venture HR and Q Explorist HR - retain the trendy design of the previous model while packing in latest features like heart rate sensor, GPS, and NFC-based Google Pay. Here's more about the new Fossil smartwatches.
Both the new Fossil wearables retain the iconic watch look
The Q Explorist features a 45mm stainless steel case and a 22mm strap size, while the Q Venture HR gets a 40mm case and an 18mm strap. Both the smartwatches come in different designs and buyers can choose from stainless steel or gold cases and leather or metal chain straps. Moreover, these watches have 36 different watch faces for a customized look.
These watches get new tech but retain the old processor
In terms of the new tech, both the wearables get a heart-rate sensor, built-in GPS, NFC payments, and are suitable for swimming. Notably, both the smartwatches come with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and run Google's Wear OS meaning they are compatible with both iOS and Android devices. However, the watches are still powered by 2016's Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100.
You can also track fitness, answer calls on these watches
The watches pack the usual array of sensors including ambient light, gyroscope, altimeter, and an accelerometer which help track fitness and activity via Google Fit. Further, you can answer calls, check notifications and summon Google Assistant directly from your watch.
