Samsung Galaxy Fold's pre-booking to go live on October 11
Samsung's ultra-premium Galaxy Fold will once again become available for purchase in India on Friday i.e. October 11. The South Korean tech giant has announced a second round of pre-booking for the foldable phone, giving interested buyers another chance to own the Rs. 1.7 lakh-worth device. To recall, in the first pre-booking round, 1,600 units of the Fold got sold out in 30 minutes.
Buyers will have to pay the entire amount upfront
Just like last time, buyers will have to pay the entire amount of Rs. 1,64,999 to pre-book a Galaxy Fold. Those interested will have to log onto Samsung's official online store at 12 pm on October 11 to order the flagship phone.
What do you get with the Galaxy Fold?
If you're one of the lucky (and rich) buyers of the Fold, you'll be entitled to benefits like premium home delivery, 24*7 dedicated expert, and 1-year accidental damage protection. In the box, you will get premium freebies including Galaxy Buds, an Aramid Fiber case, as well as other accessories and booklets. Notably, the deliveries for the folding phone will commence from October 20.
Meanwhile, here's recalling the Galaxy Fold
The Galaxy Fold features two displays: a 4.58-inch HD+ (840x1960 pixels) external screen and a foldable 7.3-inch QHD+ (1536x2152 pixels) Infinity Flex internal display. It has a plastic outer casing and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The now fixed model also comes with an integrated display protective layer, a reinforced hinge area, and reduced space between the hinge and screen to protect against dust/debris.
There are plenty of cameras for shutterbugs and selfie lovers
In the folded state, the Galaxy Fold offers a 10MP selfie camera which is housed above the external screen. In the unfolded position, the notch in the top-right corner of the internal display houses a 10MP+8MP dual camera setup. Lastly, on the rear, the device gets a triple-lens main camera with a 16MP ultra-wide sensor, a 12MP wide-angle sensor, and a 12MP telephoto sensor.
Under the hood
The Galaxy Fold is powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset, paired with 12GB RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. It packs two batteries, one on each side of the hinge, for a combined capacity of 4,380mAh. It also supports 15W wired and wireless charging, as well as 9W reverse wireless-charging. The device runs Android Pie-based One UI and packs AKG-tuned stereo speakers.
Galaxy Fold will offer a new experience for multitasking
To leverage both the screens, Samsung has introduced an App Continuity feature which automatically opens the app in the main internal display when you switch to the tablet mode. Further, in the tablet mode, you can run three apps simultaneously for an impressive multitasking experience.
