Flipkart to launch Nokia-branded Android TV in December

What's the story

Earlier this month, Flipkart announced that it has partnered with Nokia to launch the Finnish tech giant's smart TV in India. The all-new TV, set to arrive as a Flipkart Unique product, will go official in early December, according to Digit India. The publication has also shared some images of the Nokia-branded TV, revealing a few design elements and features. Here's our roundup.

Design

Nokia TV to feature flat metallic frame, slim bezels

Going by a couple of product images shared by Digit India, the upcoming Nokia TV will feature a flat-edged metallic frame with slim bezels. At the bottom, the television will pack, what appears as a, soundbar with JBL-tuned acoustics. Earlier this month, Flipkart confirmed that it has partnered with Harman to use JBL sound technology for the upcoming Nokia smart TV.

One of the models will feature a 55-inch 4K screen

Further, according to the Digit report, the Nokia TV model will feature a 55-inch 4K display. However, at present, we don't know how many models would be launched or if Flipkart would introduce more affordable variants with smaller screen sizes and lower resolutions.

Features

The TV will offer JBL speakers with Dolby Audio

The Nokia smart TV will pack JBL speakers and it will offer features such as Clear Vocal Tones and Minimal Harmonic Distortion. Additionally, the television will also be powered by Dolby Audio and DTS TruSurround Sound support to provide crisp and immersive audio. Notably, with DTS TruSurround, the TV will be able to decode 5.1 surround sound and play it via the built-in speakers.

At present, details about the Nokia TV are scarce. However, going by the industry trend, we expect these televisions to run on Android TV 9. The operating system will allow you to download apps and games on the television from Play Store, streaming content through Chromecast, and even control some functions using voice via Google Assistant.
