Facebook launches Messenger Platform 2.1 for a richer experience
After, Messenger Platform 2.0 in April, the social media giant, Facebook has now launched Messenger Platform 2.1, armed with a host of new and improved features to make sure businesses can attract new customers and also connect with their current customer-base better. With this update, it also wants to ensure that the conversational experience on Messenger gets more enriched. Here's all about it.
Built-in Natural Language Processing
Messenger Platform 2.1 incorporates built-in Natural Language Processing. This enables developers to easily integrate NLP into their bots. Built-in NLP, once enabled, will start detecting meaning and information from the texts sent by the users automatically before passing it to the bot. This version is capable of detecting, hello, bye, thanks, date & time, location, an amount of money, phone number, email, and URL.
Seamless transition capabilities
The update also contains handover protocol. This gives businesses the ability to create multiple experiences via a single bot and move uninterruptedly from a bot conversation to a human conversation. Generic questions can, therefore, be handled by the bot and personalized or detailed ones would be taken care of by human customer support. A successful blend would bring about a fulfilling customer experience.
Payments made easier
Facebook has introduced a new SDK in Messenger Platform 2.1. It'll enable making payments using the one step process via Messenger web view. However, it's still in beta version and has been only made available to the US for now. Five new Call to Action (CTA) buttons, Shop Now, Get Support, Get Updates, Play Now and Get Started will also come with this update.
