    What's the story

Facebook Live has become a potent tool for people and businesses to engage with their audience in real-time.

The feature lets users go live on their page, group, or event. The video can also be seen in the feed.

Once the broadcast is over, users can edit and share a recording of the live video on their Facebook page.

    Mobile broadcasting

    Going live from your phone

Users can go live on Facebook via the mobile app.

This requires heading to the group, page, personal profile or event from where you want to stream your video.

Users then tap on 'Write something here' followed by 'Live video' in the list of options.

You can add a description here, tag your friends, collaborators or location. Other elements like polls or links can also be added before starting the live broadcast.

    PC broadcasting

    Broadcasting from your computer

Facebook also lets users create live video content using their computer's built-in webcam and mic.

However, if you want to add graphics, screen-sharing, and more to your livestream, you can use streaming software such as Streamlabs OBS.

No matter what tools you use, Facebook will first take you to the Live Producer tool when you choose to go live from your computer.

    Webcam usage

Steps to use built-in webcam for Facebook Live

To use a built-in webcam for Facebook Live, users have to click on the Live Video icon under the "Write something here" status field at the top of their newsfeed.

They would then be taken to the Live Producer tool where they can either go live now or schedule an event for later.

They can also select their video source as webcam and add post details like description, optional title, tags or a Donate button before going live.

    User engagement

Tips for enhancing Facebook Live experience

To make the most out of Facebook Live, users should plan their videos with a clear goal and talking points.

Authenticity is the key in live videos as it helps generate viewer trust. Co-broadcasting with guests can also increase audience engagement.

Plus, building anticipation through teaser posts and offering interactive content like cooking shows or art tutorials can keep viewers hooked throughout the broadcast.

    Post-broadcast strategies

Creating highlight reels and hosting paid online events

After the live broadcast, users can create their own highlight reel by trimming unnecessary footage and sharing shorter clips on Facebook.

Regularly scheduled programming is also recommended for consistent viewer engagement.

For monetization, users can host paid online events where content distribution is limited to ticket holders or registered users.

Adding captions to videos can increase reach by making them accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences as well as those who speak different languages.
