Now you can use Facebook to find nearest public Wi-Fi
You can now use Facebook to locate the nearest public Wi-Fi. The feature is being rolled out globally for Android and iPhone apps. However, only places which have shared their details with Facebook will be shown. The feature was launched on a trial basis in a few countries last year. Facebook said it was found "especially useful in areas where cellular data is scarce".
Here's how you can activate the feature
To use the feature, head to the Facebook app and click on the "More" tab. Scroll down to "Find Wi-Fi". You will have to keep Location History enabled; Facebook will use it to add to your Activity Log even when you aren't using the app.
Learn how to protect your data while browsing in public
Since you will be using public Wi-Fi, follow some steps to keep your data safe. Firstly, verify the network name with the staff. Turn off file sharing. Go to Control Panel> Network and Sharing Center> Change Advanced Sharing Settings. Turn on Windows Firewall. You can find the settings in Control Panel> Windows Firewall. Use a virtual private network to encrypt data being transferred.
