Apple's 2018 iPhones: Naming, specs, price, launch and availability
On September 12, Apple will unveil its latest batch of iPhones including two premium OLED iPhones and a cheaper LCD iPhone. And thanks to several leaks, we already know that design-wise, the upcoming Apple flagships will be iPhone X-inspired. But what will they be called? iPhone Xs? iPhone X (2018)? Well, the rumor mills have churned out some more names. Here's everything we know.
What will the 2018 iPhones be called?
As claimed by 9to5Mac, the 5.8-inch OLED iPhone will be called iPhone XS. And this naming makes sense given 2018 will be an 'S' year - no design changes, only spec updates. Further, a new leak suggests the all-new 6.5-inch OLED iPhone, earlier dubbed as iPhone XS Max, will be called iPhone XS Plus, and the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will be called iPhone XC.
About the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Plus
The upcoming iPhone XS and iPhone XS Plus will feature OLED displays with an improved Face ID setup. Further, both the phones will sport an improved dual rear-camera setup, a glass back and stainless steel frame. In terms of internals, both the phones may come with upto 4GB RAM, upto 512GB of internal storage and will debut Apple's next-generation 7nm A12 chipset.
iPhone XC: The third iPhone
The iPhone XC will sport an iPhone X-like design, Face ID and come in multiple colors. However, being a cheaper variant, it will feature an LCD screen, an aluminum casing, glass back and a single rear camera. In terms of internals, iPhone XC is expected to get 3GB RAM, upto 256GB storage and run on Apple's A12 chipset.
The first-ever dual-SIM iPhone is coming on September 12
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that "Apple is planning dual-SIM card slots for two larger phones" i.e. the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone and 6.1-inch LCD iPhone. However, previous leaks had suggested only the LCD iPhone will get dual-SIM support. Nonetheless, we will see the first-ever dual-SIM iPhone soon.
Launch, Pricing and Availability
It is certain that Apple will unveil its latest iPhones on September 12. Moreover, reports suggest that all three iPhones will become available starting September 21 in major markets such as US and India. In terms of pricing, reports suggest iPhone XS will cost $1,079. The iPhone XS Plus and iPhone XC will be priced at $1,225 and $860, respectively.
