What's the story
Two years after it first announced 'project Jacquard' in 2015, Google in collaboration with Levi's will launch their smart 'Commuter Trucker Jacket' in fall this year.
The smart connected jacket was developed by Google's Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) group and will be priced at $350 (approx Rs. 23,200).

What are the product features?
Google's 'Commuter Trucker Jacket' provides users with the ability to dismiss incoming calls, control music and get directions, without reaching for the phone.
It is aimed at people who are on the move and has functions similar to that of a smart watch except that it is less conspicuous.

How is the jacket functioning made possible?
The jacket works on Google's patented Jacquard technology. Jacquard yarn combines thin metallic alloys with natural materials like cotton and silk.
These conductive fibres can send and receive signals so the motions made by user on the left cuff of jacket's sleeve are registered as touch inputs.
The inputs in turn are sent to smart phone through a button-sized Bluetooth-powered cufflink.
