Micromax's upcoming smartphone has a notched display and four cameras
Micromax is gearing up to launch a new smartphone in India on December 18. In the run-up to the event, the Gurugram-based company has teased some of the features of the device, revealing a notched display and dual front and rear cameras. And while details are quite scarce, it is obvious that Micromax is catching up with its Chinese rivals. Here's our roundup.
Micromax's first-ever smartphone to feature a notched display
The upcoming smartphone will be Micromax's first handset to embrace the notch. Based on some of the official teasers, the phone is seen featuring a wide an iPhone X-like notch with an edge-to-edge display. This means the phone would offer over 80% screen-to-body ratio and a taller aspect ratio of 18.5:9 or 19:9. Notably, the back casing can have glass-like or metal unibody finish.
The phone will come with dual front and rear cameras
The phone will sport a dual rear-camera setup with vertically-stacked sensor units and an LED flash. The setup will come with a bunch of AI-based image enhancing features, according to the etching below the camera module. Up front, the wide notch will house two selfie snappers, one on each side of the earpiece, and a selfie flash unit.
Micromax's ucpoming phone looks to challenge Redmi Note 6 Pro
With a notched display and quad cameras, Micromax's upcoming phone looks to take on Xiaomi's Redmi Note 6 Pro which also flaunts similar features. Moreover, the company will also challenge its competitors such as OPPO, Vivo, and Honor. These Chinese OEMs have dominated the budget segment by launching smartphones with trendier designs, AI-powered cameras, and aggressive pricing.
Specifications of the phone remain unknown
Unfortunately, we haven't had many leaks regarding this Micromax smartphone. However, taking cue from the company's use of hashtags like #AboveTheRest and #NotchAboveTheRest, we expect it to launch a smartphone with a Snapdragon 6-series chipset and possibly around 4,000mAh battery.
