There are no takers for Energizer's 18,000mAh battery phone
At the MWC 2019, Energizer (and manufacturer Avenir Telecom) made headlines by announcing a one-of-a-kind 18,000mAh battery phone called the Energizer Power Max P18K Pop. After the successful debut, the incredibly thick phone was offered on an Indiegogo campaign that recently ended miserably. Turns out, there were no takers for Energizer's battery phone. Here's more on this.
Everything to know about the Indiegogo campaign
The Energizer P18K Pop turned up on Indiegogo with an early-bird price of $549 and a promised delivery timeline of October 2019. However, the campaign goal of $1.2 million turned out to be too much as only 11 people backed up the campaign. The total amount collected was $15,005 and the entire exercise concluded as a flop show.
Meanwhile, here's recalling the Energizer Power Max P18K Pop
While the campaign may have turned out to be a disaster, the Power Max P18K Pop felt really solid (literally). The phone features a 6.2-inch full-HD+ display with an all-screen design achieved by adopting a pop-up selfie camera. However, the near 4cm thickness of the device made it unpractical for regular use.
Energizer P18K Pop offered a total of five cameras
On the rear, the Energizer P18K Pop offers a triple-lens camera comprising a 12MP main sensor, an 8MP secondary sensor, and another 5MP sensor. Up front, the pop-up camera module houses a 16MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor.
Under the hood
The Energizer P18K Pop is powered by a mid-level MediaTek Helio P70 chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Under the hood, it packs a massive 18,000mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging. Moreover, the phone supports all the standard connectivity options and sensors including a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
