Musk's Grok AI can create memes in seconds
What's the story
Elon Musk has revealed that Grok, the AI chatbot developed by his company xAI, can create memes in under a minute.
The revelation came after a meme featuring US President Donald Trump was posted on social media platform X by DogeDesigne (@cb_doge).
The user claimed "It takes less than a minute to make a meme on Grok," to which Musk simply responded with a confirmation: "True."
AI evolution
Grok 3: A significant upgrade
Grok 3, Musk's latest AI iteration, was launched last month. The new model is touted to be 10 times more capable than its predecessor, Grok 2. It shines in reasoning, in-depth research, and creative tasks.
During Grok 3's launch demonstration, Musk showcased its advanced problem-solving capabilities by tasking it with plotting a trajectory for a transfer from Earth to Mars and back.
AI features
Unique approach and advanced capabilities
Grok aims to enable "natural and engaging conversations" while discussing topics that other AI models may shy away from.
Musk explained the name of the AI, saying it comes from Robert Heinlein's novel Stranger in a Strange Land, meaning "to fully and profoundly understand something."
This deep understanding and empathy are central to Grok's functionality.
The chatbot has been pitched as superior to ChatGPT, Meta AI, and Google Gemini.
Tech infrastructure
Grok's data center and computational power
In April 2024, Musk and his xAI team opted to build their own data center to develop the most advanced AI.
They got the first 100,000 GPUs up and running in just 122 days. This monumental effort has been continuously improving Grok, letting it operate in three modes: DeepSearch, Think, and Big Mind.
