X removes bold, italics fonts from its main timeline
Elon Musk has announced the removal of bold and italic text styles from X's primary timeline. This decision was made in response to what he described as an "excessive use" of these formats. Despite this change, users will still have access to these styles when viewing individual post details. The move is part of a broader effort by Musk to curb what he calls "engagement farming."
Musk says these fonts are exploited for 'engagement farming'
Musk expressed his frustration with the overuse of bold text on X. He stated, "Due to immediate and excessive use of bold font on X, it will be removed from view in the main timeline. You will have to click on post details to see anything in bold. My eyes are bleeding." He further explained that this applies not only to bold but also italics and other formatting options, which he believes are being exploited for 'engagement farming.'
X modifies visibility rules for blocked users
Along with the formatting tweaks, X has also changed its policy about blocked users. Before, when blocked users tried to check out the profile of the person who blocked them, they would just see a 'you're blocked' message. But now, under the new policy, these users can actually see posts from the people who have blocked them. However, they can't interact with those posts.
