These mobile apps are must-haves for every Indian voter
As part of its "no voter to be left behind" mission, the Election Commission of India has launched a bunch of mobile apps to ensure a seamless voting experience. These apps help citizens in accessing information about their polling stations, locating their constituency, and provide details about the contesting candidates. Here are some of the apps every Indian voter should have.
cVIGIL: The app for empowering citizens
The cVIGIL app allows you to report any violation of the Model Code of Conduct by simply taking a photo or video. This means you can immediately report on incidents of misconduct without having to rush to authorities to lodge a complaint. The app also lets you log in anonymously and track your complaint ID which will be acknowledged by ECI within 100 minutes.
Voter Helpline: Your one-stop helpline for this election
This app called Voter Helpline aims to provide a single point of service and information delivery to Indian voters. The app allows users to find information related to their electorates such as checking names on the voter list or checking the status of their application in case of name/address change. There is also a comprehensive FAQ on voters, elections, EVMs, and results.
Observer App for observers
As the name suggests, the Observer app helps poll observers get real-time information about a constituency and send observation reports to ECI. All cVIGIL cases reported in a jurisdiction are made available via this app to concerned General Observers, Expenditure and Police Observers, allowing them to give their inputs from the place of incidents. Using the app, observers can also download their ID cards.
PWD App: For people with disabilities
In a bid to ease voter identification and registration process for people with disabilities (PwDs), the ECI has launched the PWD app. Under this Android-only mobile app, PwDs can apply for new voter registration, request for corrections or deletions, and even ask for a wheelchair on polling day. For new registrations, ECI has directed officials to personally visit PwDs and complete required formalities.
