#GamingBytes: All about Far Cry 5's newest expansion
DLC or downloadable content is expansion which gamers can enjoy apart from the main game. They are usually standalone short stories. Ubisoft's Far Cry 5 already had 2 DLCs- Hours of Darkness and Lost on Mars. Their latest DLC called, Dead Living Zombies, will release on August 28. Game owners can purchase it for $7.99. Here's all about it.
Zombies, mayhem and a twist only Far Cry can bring
The Far Cry team manages to add a fresh twist to the zombie genre. Players have to go through 7 stages with zombie hordes. The DLC is designed as the cinematic vision of Guy Marvel. Players might remember Marvel from the Blood Dragon 3 easter-egg in the main game. The stories have pop-cultural references. One of them is 'Romeo and Juliet' against zombies!
Perks of playing the DLC
The DLC maps have all been created from the Far Cry Arcade Editor. When players complete the latest one, they will unlock a Score Attack Mode. This will give them access to new weapons which they can use in the main game as well.
A look at how the previous DLCs fared
Hours of Darkness came out in June and Lost on Mars in July. The first was a story of a Vietnam veteran who was shot behind enemy lines. The second was Hurk and Nick Rye, from the main game, getting teleported to Mars to stop an invasion. The Mars DLC stood out for Hurk's humor. Otherwise, both the stories were pretty straightforward.
A little glitch in the system
The Dead Living Zombies DLC accidentally got released before the official date. This is why players now know a host of details before the release. The download was titled DLC-Zombies. It wasn't available for early purchase, but those with Far Cry 5 Gold or a season pass could download and play it. Microsoft and Ubisoft noticed this and took steps to restrict access.
