HTC U12+ coming this summer; design and specifications leaked
Taiwanese phone manufacturer HTC is reportedly preparing to announce its next flagship, the HTC U12+, which has been codenamed as HTC Imagine by the company. Courtesy design renders and specification leaks, we now know that HTC is laying the groundwork for U12+ which, as some reports suggest, may get launched in early May. Here's our roundup on the device.
Courtesy renders and reports
According to reports, U12+ is expected to sport a 5.99-inch QHD+ LCD display with a near-bezel-less design as seen on the HTC U11 EYEs. The U12+ will feature a rear dual-camera setup along with a flash and fingerprint sensor placed below the camera setup. Also, earlier reports have said the smartphone would come with IP 68 water and dust resistance rating.
A real dual-camera setup is the least you can expect
Render designs and some leaks confirm a rear dual-camera setup on the HTC's 2018 flagship, the U12+. In terms of specifications for the setup, the smartphone is expected to bear a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel secondary sensor along with an LED flash. As for the front camera, the U12+ may get an 8-megapixel camera with support for Face Unlock technology.
Under the hood
Reports suggest the U12+ will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM, 64GB/ 128GB inbuilt storage. The smartphone is also expected to pack a 3,420mAh battery while running Android Oreo. It will feature second generation of HTC's Edge Sense functionality which included the much- talked about 'squeeze' function that we saw on the HTC U11 launched last year.
Understanding HTC's Edge Sense and 'Squeeze'
HTC's Edge Sense essentially lets you perform phone/app functions by squeezing the sides of the phone - say you can open camera or zoom in and out of photos or play/pause music by squeezing. You can set up squeeze actions app-wise, provided it supports squeeze.
