India gets first vision-correcting eye drops: How they work
Entod Pharmaceuticals has introduced PresVu, a much-needed solution for individuals suffering from presbyopia. This condition, commonly affecting those over 40 years old, impairs the ability to focus on close objects. The newly launched eye drop is designed to reduce reliance on reading glasses by enhancing lens flexibility and improving near vision within 15 minutes of application. The product has been approved by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI).
How does PresVu work?
PresVu is specifically formulated to target presbyopia. The condition arises when the eye's natural lens loses its flexibility due to aging, making it challenging to focus on nearby objects. The eye drop stimulates the muscles surrounding the lens, aiding it to change shape more easily and focus on nearby objects. This improvement in focusing ability allows people with presbyopia to see clearly at close range without constantly needing reading glasses.
PresVu's availability and price
With an estimated 1.09 to 1.8 billion people worldwide affected by presbyopia, this eye drop could benefit a significant portion of the population. The product will be available in pharmacies from the first week of October at a price of ₹350 per bottle. In addition to its primary function, PresVu also lubricates the eyes. However, these eye drops are not for people with Myopia (nearsightedness) and hypermetropia (farsightedness), unless prescribed by your opthalmologist.
