Drones carry D&G handbags in fashion show
Italian luxury fashion brand Dolce & Gabanna has made a bunch of flying drones carry handbags down the runway at the Milan Fashion Week. The 600-people-strong crowd was stunned when instead of models, quadcopters came out to showcase D&G's latest range of quilted leather handbags as part of its Fall Winter 2018/19 collection. Here is more on it.
Drones took over the fashion world for a hot minute
The drones made heart-shaped formations on the runway
Around seven drones were orchestrated to fly down the runway, each carrying a leather, jewel-encrusted handbag dangling beneath it. The spectacle, named Devotion, featured the drones making heart-shaped formations and thoroughly impressing an unsuspecting audience.
Audience had to turn off internet for successful drone show
Before the show started, the audience was requested multiple times to turn off Wi-Fi and personal hotspots on their phones, to avoid any chance of interference affecting the drone flights. Further, the show started 45 minutes late, most probably preparing for the drone spectacle. A couple of people also walked cautiously near the drones, complete with propeller guards, to manage any flyaways or malfunctions.
Models be forewarned, technology is coming for you
Once the drones were done showcasing the handbags, the fashion show resumed with human models hitting the runway. They were back to flaunting clothes from D&G. However, the event did signify that technology can very well replace humans from all kinds of professions.
