Mi A1, Moto G5S-Plus, Honor 7X: Which mid-range-smartphone to buy?
Smartphone makers are competing to bring new technologies, but high-end devices with advanced technology are very expensive; they often find few takers. So, manufacturers are now battling it out with value-for-money smartphones in the "busy" mid-range segment. This year, Xiaomi Mi A1, Moto G5s Plus, and Honor 7X are the hottest contenders for around Rs. 12,000-15,000. Find out how they compare to each other!
Which phone looks the best?
All the three devices -Honor 7X, Xiaomi Mi A1, Moto G5s Plus- have full-metal bodies. The Honor 7X is a sleek and slim-bezeled phone with "futuristic looks" and an edge-to-edge screen. The Mi A1's design and style are good, too; Moto G5s Plus looks great, but it's thicker compared to the other two. Honor 7X wins in this segment followed by Mi A1.
What about the display on these phones?
The Honor 7X with minimal bezels features a 5.93-inch FHD+ display. It offers a Full-View display and good contrast. The Mi A1 and Moto G5s Plus both have 5.5-inch displays, but the former lacks depth. G5s Plus offers good contrast and saturation. Among these three phones, only the Honor 7X has an 18:9 edge-to-edge screen. So, it is the clear winner here!
How good are the cameras?
Honor 7X has a 2MP+16MP dual primary camera and an 8MP front camera. Mi A1 houses a 12MP+12MP dual rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Moto G5s Plus comes with a 13MP+13MP dual rear camera and an 8MP selfie-shooter. A1's cameras offer excellent quality and work well even in low light. The other two are good, but A1 does a better job.
What about the price?
Huawei Honor 7X was released in October; it soon became the hottest-selling smartphone with an edge-to-edge display; it's priced at Rs. 12,999. Xiaomi's first ever Android One smartphone, Mi A1, was released in September at Rs. 14,999. After receiving a Rs. 1,000 price-cut, it's now available for Rs. 13,999 on Mi.com. Moto G5s Plus was released in August; it is priced at Rs. 15,999.
Hardware, software, and other features
All the three devices offer great specs and performance, considering their price. They run on Android 7 Nougat. Honor 7X houses a HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor, 4GB RAM, and 32GB/64GB internal storage (expandable up to 256GB). Both Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto G5s Plus are powered by Snapdragon 625 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB).
Honor 7X has a bigger battery
The Honor 7X houses a massive 3,340mAh battery. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Mi A1 comes with a 3,080mAh battery. The Moto G5s Plus has a 3,000mAh battery. So, once again, the Honor device wins over the others in this category.
Which one is the best device?
These devices have good specs and are in the Rs. 12,000-15,000 range. Also, Honor 7X, Mi A1, and Moto G5s Plus feature the 3.5mm headphone port. But the slim-bezeled Honor 7X emerged as the winner in many categories like the battery, price, display, looks, etc. So, the Huawei Honor 7X is the best among the three followed by Mi A1.
