Place virtual models inside real-world scenes with this app
California-based Superba AR has developed an app called Photo Studio AR that allows photographers to shoot virtual models in real-world locations via augmented reality. You can choose from a number of models from the app and then place them in any scene of your liking. The app essentially helps you plan and pre-visualize a photoshoot without investing in a stand-in model.
Apply AR lighting to virtual models, props
You can choose what pose you want a model to strike, and also re-arrange and scale them to different sizes. Once that is done, you can add lighting as per requirements. The app offers several virtual lights and light modifiers that can also be used to decide which lighting gear should you buy. You can even adjust the sun's direction and the subsequent shadows.
Experiment with poses, lighting, setups, weather
Next, you can also insert props or entire AR sets into your shoot like beach or desert locations. Control how you'd want the weather to be with the app's fake rain and snow offering. Finally, you can color-correct in real-time. Once everything is ready, you can either click a picture of the scene or share the virtual shoot as a standalone work.
The man behind Photo Studio AR
Superba AR's CEO Raffael Dickreuter is a veteran of 13 years in the Hollywood visual effects industry. He has worked on movies like Iron Man, Avengers 2, Terminator Salvation, and Man of Steel, and has also contributed to Snapchat's AR filters functionality. The app costs $10 to download and is available for both iOS and Android.
