Mi Mix 2, OnePlus5, Nokia8: Which one should you buy?
Xiaomi finally launched the much-anticipated Mi Mix 2 bezel-less smartphone in India to take on other premium devices in the market. It gives a tough competition to Nokia 8 launched last month in the country and also, OnePlus 5, which has been in the spotlight since its launch in June. With similar specs and price-tags, let's see how these phones compare to each other!
Display, built, and pricing of the three premium phones
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has 5.99-inch Full-HD+ display with ceramic rear panel. It costs Rs. 35,999. HMD Global's Nokia 8, priced at Rs. 36,999, has a unibody metal design with 5.3-inch Quad-HD IPS display. OnePlus 5's design resembles that of iPhone 7 Plus and has a 5.5-inch Full-HD display. Its base variant is priced at Rs. 32,999 while the 8GB model at Rs. 37,999.
Qualcomm's current best processor powers all three devices
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Nokia 8, and OnePlus 5 are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The Mi Mix 2 comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage. The Nokia 8 has only 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The OnePlus 5, however, comes in two variants: 6GB RAM/64GB internal storage and 8GB RAM/128GB inbuilt storage.
Nokia 8 offers stock Android experience
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 runs on the firm's MIUI 9 on top of Android 7 Nougat, having a 3,400mAh battery. Also, OnePlus 5 runs on OnePlus's Oxygen OS on top of Android Nougat with a 3,300mAh battery. Nokia 8 offers stock Android experience running on Nougat, housing a 3,090mAh battery. All three would receive Android Oreo, but Nokia 8 would also get Android P.
Mi Mix 2 falls behind the others in optics department
Mi Mix 2 has only a single 12MP rear camera with four-axis Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and a 5MP selfie shooter with facial recognition feature for unlocking the smartphone. Nokia 8 has dual 13MP cameras on the back and a 13MP front camera not only for selfies but also bothies. OnePlus 5 has a 16MP+20MP dual rear camera setup with 16MP front camera.
Which one is the best?
All three devices have similar specs and are in Rs. 30,000-40,000 range. If a person wants stock Android experience, with a great camera, then Nokia 8 is the best. However, if a bezel-less display is what a buyer wants, then it is Mi Mix 2. If someone is looking for a power-packed device with good looks and camera, then OnePlus 5 is the one.
