Google's 'Circle to Search' feature expands to Pixel Tablet
Google's visual lookup feature, 'Circle to Search,' is now offered on the Pixel Tablet. This development comes after its successful introduction on the Pixel Fold last month. The feature was initially offered on Pixel Tablets running Android 15 Beta 1.2. However, it is now operational on the stable Android 14. The user interface, that was already present on the Fold's inner screen, remains unchanged for the Tablet too, with an edge-to-edge results sheet appearing post-selection.
'Circle to Search' now accessible on iPhones
In related news, iPhone users can now also utilize a form of the Circle to Search facility, via the Google app for iOS and an Apple Shortcut. This version, which relies on Google Lens, has some limitations compared to its Android counterpart. As claimed by Google Lens Design Manager Minsang Choi via a post on X, this new shortcut allows users to perform a custom action called "Search Image With Lens" through the Shortcuts app.
How to use the feature?
To use the 'Circle to Search' feature on iPhones, users must ensure their device is running on iOS 13 or later, and has the latest version of Google app for iOS installed. The Shortcut can be directly accessed by tapping this link. Alternatively, users can manually set up the Shortcut by selecting 'Take screenshot' followed by 'Search Image With Lens.' This process can be expedited by mapping it to Action button on iPhone15 Pro models.
