    What's the story

OpenAI, a leading artificial intelligence (AI) start-up, has announced that its chatbot, ChatGPT, now boasts over 200 million weekly active users.

This figure represents a significant increase from November last year, when it had 100 million users.

The chatbot was introduced back in 2022, and is designed to generate human-like responses based on user prompts.

    Corporate adoption

OpenAI's products are used by 92% of Fortune 500 companies

OpenAI has also revealed that its products are being utilized by an impressive 92% of Fortune 500 companies.

The use of its automated Application Programming Interface (API), which facilitates communication between software programs, has seen a significant increase since the introduction of ChatGPT-4o mini in July.

The ChatGPT-4o mini is a cost-efficient small AI model designed to make OpenAI's technology more affordable and less energy-intensive.

    Valuation surge

OpenAI's valuation skyrockets due to ChatGPT's popularity

The popularity of ChatGPT has significantly contributed to the rise in OpenAI's valuation.

The San Francisco-based start-up has recently secured contracts with the US government for research, testing, and evaluation of their AI models.

This information was disclosed by the US Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute.

    Potential investments

Apple, NVIDIA eye investment in OpenAI

In related news, tech giants Apple and NVIDIA are reportedly considering investing in OpenAI.

This potential investment is part of a new fundraising round that could value the ChatGPT creator at more than $100 billion.

Microsoft, which is an existing backer of OpenAI, is also expected to invest further in the firm.
