BSNL launches 2 new prepaid plans with unlimited calling
State-run BSNL has launched two prepaid plans of Rs. 99 and Rs. 319, respectively. They offer unlimited voice calling benefits on any network without any FUP limits. The Rs. 99 plan also offers free callers tunes for 26 days while the Rs. 319 plan comes with a validity of 90 days. The prepaid plans are available across India, except in Mumbai and Delhi circles.
The battle is fierce among telecom companies
This comes as BSNL competes with top telecom companies like Reliance Jio and Airtel, who periodically keep rolling out attractive recharge packs that offer more data for less money. Since BSNL's new plans fail to offer additional benefits such as free data, it is difficult for them to beat Airtel and Jio as they have set the bar too high for incumbents.
Airtel and Reliance Jio have better tariff plans
Airtel recently launched a Rs. 129 recharge plan that offers unlimited voice calls, 1GB of 4G data, 100 SMSes per day, and a free Hello Tunes subscription for 28 days. In comparison, Reliance Jio offers a Rs. 98 recharge plan which includes 2GB of data, free voice calling, 100 SMSes per day and a free subscription to Jio's proprietary apps for 28 days.
BSNL's efforts to stay in the game
BSNL recently launched a Rs. 248 IPL recharge pack. It offers 153GB of data for 51 days with a daily FUP limit of 3GB. This rivals Jio's Rs. 251 cricket pack that offers 102GB of data for 51 days. Further, BSNL has partnered with Micromax and Lava to offer cashbacks on low-budget smartphones, competing against Jio's 'Football Offer' and Airtel's 'Mera Pehla Smartphone' offer.
BSNL's other plans with unlimited calling
BSNL's other recent plans offering unlimited calling include a Rs. 444 pack with 1.5GB of daily data for 60 days, a Rs. 485 pack with 1GB of daily data for 90 days, and a Rs. 187 pack with 1GB of daily data for 28 days.
