#TechBytes: Top entry-level feature phones that can run WhatsApp
WhatsApp, the leading messaging app in the world, has redefined personal communication. But if you think only high-priced phones can run the app, you are wrong. Several feature phones now support the Facebook-owned messaging service, and we have curated a list of best and most affordable ones to help you pick your ideal phone. Let's take a look at them.
JioPhone 4G
Priced at Rs. 1,500, JioPhone 4G is one of the most popular feature phones. The device runs KaiOS out-of-the-box and sports a 2.4-inch color display, powered by 512MB RAM. You can download WhatsApp on this phone using the inbuilt AppStore, and even expand 4GB storage up to 128GB via microSD. The rear camera on JioPhone is a 2MP shooter while the front is VGA.
JioPhone 2
Just like the original JioPhone, its elder sibling, the JioPhone 2, also offers support for WhatsApp. The 4G phone comes at Rs. 2,999 and offers a full QWERTY keyboard for an enhanced messaging experience on WhatsApp. Notably, all other features are the same as those offered on the original JioPhone, except dual SIM capabilities.
Intex Turbo+ 4G
Intex Turbo + 4G goes straight against JioPhone with support for WhatsApp and other similar features. The device ships at Rs. 1,999 and offers a 2.4-inch QVGA display, powered by a dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, and 4GB internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD). There is also a 2MP rear and VGA front camera, and a 2,000mAh battery on this device.
Nokia 8110 'Banana' phone
Nokia 8110 launched a few months back and recently received support for WhatsApp. The phone comes at a hefty price tag of Rs. 5,000, which is mostly attributed to the iconic 'banana' slider design of the device. You also get a 2.45-inch QVGA display bundled with 4GB ROM, 512MB RAM, and SD205SoC on the device. There's dual SIM support but no front camera.
