This AI chatbot will interpret ancient Ayurvedic texts, offer advice
What's the story
The Ministry of Ayush, via the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), is working on an AI-assisted chatbot.
The tool would be used to interpret and simplify ancient manuscripts on traditional Ayurvedic medicines.
The project is still in the works and will be made available to the public once completed, Naman Goel, an officer on special duty at the Ministry of Ayush, said.
User interaction
It will simplify ancient medical texts
The AI chatbot is being designed to work like ChatGPT, a popular conversational model from OpenAI.
Goel explained that the idea is to develop a platform that can understand, interpret, and explain ancient manuscripts and books to people across the world.
You will be able to ask questions about these texts and get simple answers from the system.
Practical application
AI chatbot to bridge gap between ancient, modern medicine
The AI chatbot is expected to bridge the gap between ancient and modern medicine by providing easy-to-understand explanations of traditional medical texts.
For example, "Users could ask about the 'reason for fever' as per Charak Samhita and our bot will give reasons in easy language, explaining the ancient medical science textbook," Goel said.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Ministry of Ayush to incorporate AI into various aspects of traditional medicine systems.
Digitization drive
Ayush Grid Initiative: A step toward digitization
The Ministry of Ayush has launched the "Ayush Grid Initiative," a project to digitize assets across the Ayush sector.
This includes education, research, citizen services, as well as drug licensing.
The initiative highlights the ministry's faith in AI's capability to transform data analytics across platforms such as the Ayush Research Portal, the e-Charak Portal and ABDM-complaint Ayush Hospital Information Management System (AHMIS).
