Ayaneo announces modernized Game Boy, power bank, mini-PC, and more
Ayaneo, a handheld gaming PC maker, has announced two new emulator-centric pocket computers. These innovative gadgets could potentially compete with the Analogue Pocket, the most advanced Game Boy that uses actual cartridges. The modernized versions include a Pocket DMG and a Pocket Micro, both equipped with advanced features to enhance the gaming experience.
Advanced features of Pocket DMG, Micro
The new Pocket DMG, a modern version of the original DMG-01 Nintendo Game Boy, now comes with a 419ppi OLED screen. It is fueled by a Qualcomm G3x Gen 2 processor, and features an active cooling system beneath its 3.92-inch (1240x1080 pixels) OLED screen. On the other hand, the Pocket Micro is housed in aluminum and boasts a (960x640 pixels) panel that permits for 4x integer scaling for GBA games, backed by a MediaTek Helio G99 chip.
Ayaneo's AG01 "Graphics Starship" eGPU dock
In addition to the handheld devices, Ayaneo has also teased the AG01 "Graphics Starship" eGPU dock. This device is an AMD Radeon RX 7600 million eGPU that can connect over Oculink or USB4, similar to rivals from OneXPlayer and GPD. It packs twin DisplayPorts and twin HDMI ports for video output, as well as Ethernet, USB-A, and an SD card slot. The dock also has space for an M.2 2280 SSD with toolless entry.
A retro power bank with a screen
Ayaneo has showcased a Super Famicom-themed retro power bank with a screen. The device is a 45.6Wh (12,000mAh) battery pack with a built-in OLED display for real-time monitoring. It gets a 45W USB-C PD input and output, and two USB-C ports. However, it seems like users may be limited to 15W per port if they use both simultaneously.
