Austrian firm to launch luxury submarine yacht for billionaires
Austrian firm Migaloo has announced plans to revolutionize luxury watercraft, with a unique hybrid of a superyacht and submarine, named M5. This innovative concept is aimed at billionaires seeking a fresh approach to privately owned surface vessels. The M5, expected to be an impressive 165.8-meter long and 23-meter wide at its widest point, is designed to reach speeds of 20 knots when traveling on the surface and 12 knots when submerged.
The M5 can be fully customized
The M5 stands out for its adaptability, with designs that can be fully customized to the owner's preferences. The standard design includes luxury amenities such as a helipad, swimming pool, and spa, gym, art gallery cinema, and a party area with a DJ booth. Optional extras include a hot air balloon and an underwater station for feeding sharks. The vessel also has the capacity to stay underwater for up to four weeks and cover approximately 15,000km.
Migaloo M5 is full-proof when it comes to safety
The Migaloo M5 can descend up to 250-meter beneath the surface of the ocean, and packs smaller submarines (housing up to 12 guests) for underwater antics. It boasts a double-hull construction as well as multiple pressure hulls, for safety.
Migaloo's CEO calls M5 a 'private submersible fortress'
Migaloo's CEO Christian Gumpold stated on their website that owners are looking for privacy, security, and protection for themselves, their guests, and their valuables. To meet these needs, Migaloo will partner with US firm SAFE to provide tailor-made security systems, offering beyond military-grade protection for this private submersible fortress. The starting price for the M5 is estimated at around $2 billion, reflecting the extensive customization options available.
