ASUS ZenFone Ares, with AR and VR features, launched
Taiwanese electronics giant ASUS has launched its latest smartphone, the ZenFone Ares, in its homeland. The ZenFone Ares comes with specifications similar to that of last year's ZenFone AR, but with additional Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality support. The ZenFone Ares features a 5.7-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The display comes equipped with Tru2life technology that enables VR experiences. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB of inbuilt UFS 2.0 storage, which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card.

The ASUS ZenFone Ares sports a 23-megapixel rear camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture and in-house high-resolution PixelMaster 3.0 technology. Apart from photography, the primary camera can also capture motion tracking and depth sensing to enable AR effects. Up front, the phone gets an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with an f/2.0 aperture.

The ZenFone Ares supports dual-SIM (Nano) cards, runs Android Nougat-based ZenUI and packs a 3,300mAh battery that supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0. It supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/c, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/A-GPS, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack and a fingerprint sensor embedded under the home button. The phone also comes with SonicMaster 3.0 Hi-Res Audio audio decoder and supports DTS Headphone with 7.1 channel.
