ASUS ZenFone 6 to take on "flagship killers" in India
The recently announced ASUS ZenFone 6 is coming to India soon, according to a teaser page activated by e-commerce giant Flipkart. And while we don't have the exact timeline of its arrival, the phone will take on "flagship killers" like OnePlus 7 and Redmi K20 will its all-screen body, a novel flip camera, and flagship-grade internals. Here's our review of ZenFone 6.
ASUS ZenFone 6: At a glance
The ASUS ZenFone 6 offers an all-screen design achieved by adopting a rotating rear camera which automatically flips to serve as a selfie snapper. This design is appreciable as your gaming and video watching experience won't be hampered by notches or display holes. Further, the 6.4-inch full-HD+ IPS screen looks good with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and 600-nits of peak brightness.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
The ZenFone 6 comes with a motorized dual-lens rear camera comprising a 48MP (f/1.7) main lens and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Notably, this camera module flips up to serve as a front-facing camera, offering high-resolution selfies. ASUS is also touting several interesting features such as motion tracking video, 4K recording at 60fps, Auto Panorama mode, HDR+ and Super Night Mode for improved low-light photography.
Under the hood
The ASUS ZenFone 6 is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, paired with upto 8GB RAM and upto 256GB of storage. With this configuration, the phone locks horn with "flagship killers" like OnePlus 7 and the upcoming Redmi K2. Under the hood, the ASUS offering gets a massive 5,000mAh battery with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4 support and runs Android Pie-based ZenUI 6.
ASUS ZenFone 6 may launch at around Rs. 30,000
In Europe, the ASUS ZenFone 6 starts at EUR 499 (roughly Rs. 39,100) for the 6GB/64GB variant and goes upto EUR 599 (roughly Rs. 47,000) for the top-end 8GB/256GB model. However, in India, the phone may be aggressively priced at around Rs. 30,000 to take on competitors like OnePlus 7, Redmi K20, and others.
How things stack up?
The ASUS ZenFone 6 is a good package of modern design and flagship performance with a good display, top-of-the-line internals, and dependable 5,000mAh battery. The rotating camera setup also significantly improves your selfie game while offering respectable landscapes and portraits. And while it aims to check all the boxes of being an all-rounder, its pricing will be key in a competitive market like India.
