ASUS to launch a new 'ZenFone' model on October 17
Taiwanese tech giant ASUS is set to launch a new 'ZenFone' model in India on October 17. The company has sent out media invites for an event scheduled to commence at 12:30pm IST in New Delhi. However, while ASUS hasn't revealed anything about the upcoming device, our guess is either ZenFone Max Pro M2 or ZenFone Max Pro 2. Here's everything we know so far.
ASUS could launch ZenFone Max Pro 2 or Pro M2
While there are no leaks centered around the upcoming ASUS phone, both ZenFone Max Pro 2 and ZenFone Max Pro M2 have recently passed Russian EEC certification. As per the certifications, the ASUS Zenfone Max M2 has a model number ZB633KL while the Zenfone Max Pro M2 shows a reference number of ZB631KL. Moreover, as per the certifications, both the phones will run Android Oreo.
Second guess: ASUS ROG Phone
Interestingly, ASUS is also likely to introduce its ROG Phone in India. But the ROG Phone is part of the Republic of Gamers brand and not ZenFone brand. That said, ASUS could re-brand its gaming flagship smartphone and launch it under the ZenFone brand. However, the likelihood of this rebranding is close to impossible, considering ROG laptops and accessories are already available in India.
Meanwhile, here's a look at ASUS ROG Phone's spec sheet
The ROG Phone bears a 6-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, 108.6% DCI-P3 color gamut and 10000:1 contrast ratio. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, with gaming-optimized Adreno 630 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 128/512GB storage. The phone runs Android-based ROG Gaming UI, packs a 4,000mAh battery and offers 12MP+8MP dual-rear camera setup and 8MP front-camera.
