ASUS ROG Phone could be the ultimate Android gaming smartphone
In the world of mobile devices, manufacturers have started a new trend of high-end gaming smartphones. In this space, we already have Razr Phone, Xiaomi Black Shark which are designed for dedicated gamers. Now, ASUS' gaming brand, Republic of Gamers (ROG) has unveiled the ROG Phone which features top-end specs and is the world's first smartphone with a 3D vapor-chamber cooling system. Here's a sneak peek.
Highlights: Designed for the gamer in you
The ASUS ROG Phone has a full-screen display with dual front-facing speakers. On the rear, you have ROG logo which lights up (it's also fully customizable). Notably, as an industry first design, the phone features 3D vapor-chamber cooling system for keeping the device from overheating.

The ROG Phone bears a 6-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, 108.6% DCI-P3 color gamut and 10000:1 contrast ratio. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, with gaming-optimized Adreno 630 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 128/512GB storage. The phone runs Android-based ROG Gaming UI, packs a 4,000mAh battery and offers 12MP+8MP dual-rear camera setup and 8MP front-camera.
Dedicated gaming, from hardware to software
Along with the vapor cooling system, the ROG Phone comes with a clip-on AeroActive Cooler for extra cooling (bundled in-the-box). It also includes side-mounted ports, two programmable ultrasonic AirTriggers, and advanced force-feedback haptics. Moreover, the phone offers an X Mode which can be activated by squeezing the sides of the phone to stop background tasks and direct all processing power to the game.
Connectivity options and onboard sensors
Connectivity options on the ASUS ROG Phone include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ad, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, AGPS, Glonass, USB Type-C port, NFC, and 3.5mm jack. The sensors onboard the phone include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and ultrasonic AirTrigger sensors. In terms of dimensions, the phone measures 158.8x76.2x8.6mm and weighs 200 grams.
ASUS has also introduced several ROG Phone gaming accessories
ASUS has introduced Gamevice Gamepad that offers a pair of shoulder buttons on each side for gaming controls, a TwinView Pedestal which converts the device into a dual-screen phone. It features a 6-inch screen and a built-in 6,000mAh battery. Lastly, you have Mobile Desktop Dock which lets you use the device as desktop PC and WiGig Dock that helps you stream to a TV.
Price and Availability
As of now, ASUS has not provided any information about the price or availability of its ROG Phone. However, the Taiwanese company did say that it will launch the ROG Phone in India pretty soon.
