ASUS ROG Phone 5 receives Esports Mode via first update
ASUS has released the first software update for its newly-launched ROG Phone 5 models. As per the changelog, the firmware introduces a new eSports Mode, a ROG Akira character theme pack, a ROG Vision animation editor in Armoury Crate, and motion control gestures in AirTrigger 5. Everything to know about the update
The new firmware for the ROG Phone 5 carries version number 18.0830.2101.73. It is currently being rolled out in batches. To manually check for the update, you can go to Settings > System menu.
The phone features a 144Hz AMOLED display
ASUS ROG Phone 5 sports a conventional screen, slim bezels, and an integrated fingerprint sensor. On the rear, it packs a horizontally-aligned triple camera unit and RGB lighting or a customizable secondary display (only on the Pro and Ultimate models). The device bears a 6.8-inch Full-HD+ (1080x2400 pixels) AMOLED screen with an aspect ratio of 20:9, a 144Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support.
It offers a 32MP front camera
ASUS ROG Phone 5 packs a triple rear camera module comprising a 64MP primary sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP macro shooter. On the front, it sports a 32MP selfie snapper.
It draws power from a Snapdragon 888 processor
ASUS ROG Phone 5 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 888 chipset, paired with up to 18GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Under the hood, it runs on Android 11 and packs a 6,000mAh battery with 65W fast-charging support. In terms of connectivity, the device offers support for Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, a headphone jack, and two Type-C ports.
