ASUS' powerful ROG Phone 2 can even beat gaming laptops
A 120Hz HDR OLED display, 12GB RAM, 6,000mAh battery and a 2.9GHz processor. If you hear these specifications, you would think one is talking about a gaming laptop, yes? No! These are, in fact, the key highlights of the most spec-heavy smartphone made till date: the ASUS ROG Phone 2. Here's all about this new smartphone.
ASUS ROG Phone 2 retains the design of its predecessor
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And ASUS is well aware of that. Unlike other flagship sequels, the ROG Phone 2 retains the design of ROG Phone. So, you still get a gaming-centric design with a full-screen display, dual front-facing speakers, customizable LED logo, and vapor chamber cooling system. However, the rear-mounted fingerprint reader has been replaced by an in-screen scanner.
A tailor-made display for uncompromising gaming experience
Meanwhile, the display on the ROG Phone 2 has received a huge upgrade in the form of a larger 6.59-inch AMOLED screen with full-HD+ resolution and 10-bit HDR support. Further, the screen comes with a segment-leading 120Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. ASUS also claims that the touch-latency of 49ms is the lowest on any smartphone ever made.
You also get pretty capable cameras
On the rear, the ROG Phone 2 gets a dual camera unit featuring a 48MP main lens and a 13MP wide-angle lens with a 125-degrees field of view. For selfies and video calling, it has a 24MP front-facing camera.
ROG Phone 2 debuts the all-new Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset
Notably, the ROG Phone 2 debuts Qualcomm's gaming-focused Snapdragon 855 Plus processor that offers improved clock speeds and better graphics performance. The phone also comes with upto 12GB of RAM, upto 512GB of storage, and a mighty 6,000mAh battery. You also get dual USB Type-C ports, a headphone jack, optional gaming accessories, and the option to either run stock Android or ASUS' ROG UI.
