iOS 19: Everything we know about Apple's next major update
What's the story
Apple's upcoming iOS 19 is creating a lot of buzz in the tech community, with a ton of rumors suggesting what it might have in store.
A recent leak indicates a redesigned Camera app, while Bloomberg's Mark Gurman previously teased an upgraded Siri.
And, it seems some new features may even be introduced gradually in later releases.
Here's everything we know so far.
Information
A revamped Camera app
In a YouTube video on Front Page Tech, Jon Prosser showcased the new look of the Camera app. The main change is said to be translucent menus for camera controls, similar to those found in visionOS, Apple's software platform for its Vision Pro headset.
Control features
Enhanced controls and viewfinder
The redesigned Camera app in iOS 19 will reportedly provide more of the camera's viewfinder than its predecessor, iOS 18.
The controls are split into Photo and Video categories at the bottom of the app.
New options include recording spatial video, setting a timer for a photo, and more controls for video resolution and frame rate that pop up as needed at the top of the screen.
Information
Siri to become more conversational
Gurman previously claimed a "more conversational Siri" would arrive with iOS 19, powered by advanced language models for handling complex requests. While Apple may showcase it during the iOS 19 reveal, its launch has reportedly been delayed, possibly until iOS 20.
Compatibility
Take a look at the list of compatible devices
As per French website iPhoneSoft.fr, any iPhone that can run iOS 18 will also support iOS 19.
This includes the likes of iPhone SE (2nd generation or later), iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and all variants of iPhone 11 and later.
Naturally, some iOS 19 features won't be supported on older iPhones.
